Dear Students, Parents and Guardians, Welcome "Bach" to a new school year! Why the misspelling in the title? Because the first unit of study for the school year is the composer Johann Sebastian Bach! Below you will find the link to our Music Notes. Questions? Feel free to email me at [email protected] or 616-361-3450. Musically Yours, Miss Dinh

Below are some pictures of the activities in which the students engaged! Our amazing 4th graders entered a video contest through the music magazine Music K-8 today! They rehearsed and filmed a parody of the popular "Gangnam Style" called "Zombie Style." Please view, vote, and share with everyone who has internet access!! [email protected] (616) 361-4246 Earlier this week, our 2nd - 4th graders worked on a project in which they created pumpkin faces using musical symbols! Below are some of the finished products hanging in the hallway outside of the music room.
Use the "I Spy" sheets to find certain symbols! This past Tuesday, a few Grand Rapids Symphony players came to North Oakview for an in-school performance for our 4th graders!
The String Discovery Ensemble consisted of four violin players from the Symphony, and their presentation was based on "everything violin:" from the make up of the violin, the playing techniques involved, to the most expensive violin in the world! ALL of the 4th graders had the chance to play a violin that day, and students were thrilled to have the opportunity to do so! Once again, a huge thank you to our North PTC for making this partnership with the Symphony possible! "Never stop singing." Hildegard von Bingen |
